At times, I think back on people who have passed on. This is about such a relative of mine.
To sit on her lap
was truly a joy,
for her being plump
amused me so much.
To touch her elbow
and put my small finger
inside the dimple there,
The laughter we both shared!
I smile to think the times
We laughed about little things,
or nothing at all.
Even writing this memory
takes my soul back into times
when life was simple
and oh so carefree.
Across moments and miles,
even days and years and time,
She sits beside my heart,
Smiling at the child she loved;
The child she cared for
As if I were her own.
Asleep in time, living in mine
Goodnight tonight.
