My first attempt at writing a Villanille. I know it's somewhat outside the box, but it's poetry. So this has no labels other than its a poem.

Love Is A Tree

Love is a tree changing each season
Showing infinte cycles for display
A portrait of phases and their reason

Spring brings buds of hope for the damson
Flowering fragrant life anew
Love is a tree changing each season

Summer leaves of cool green beckon
All the world around its shade
A portrait of phases and their reason

Autum brings a colorful vision
A vivid palette of  boundless beauty
Love is a tree changing each season

Winter's iced bare limbs lay frozen
Showing the truth of what it is
A portrait of phases and their reason

Down below the roots seek their mission
A natural foundation strong and true
Love is a tree changing each season
A portrait of phases and their reason

A wonderful analogy. Trees are probably more stable though, with roots in the ground and not the air :)

Very well written Kathy. I love this poem so very much and it shows that you do in fact know what love is and how love is. Keep up the good work! Your friend always.

Love the structure of this one.The tercets with a repeating last line produces rythm. Also the poignant closing couplet signs off nicely.

Hello my dear friend,
As you know, I don't know one form from another. So I don't know if it is a Villanelle or not, but I do know that it is good. No; actually, it is great. A wonderfully written poem by you dear lady.
Your friend,
Damon

Rain song by Zeppelin: "These are the seasons of emotion, and like the wind, they rise and fall." I like the way you put it, but I love the way you know it.

Katherine - Beautiful diagram of love, beautiful explanation too. Tree of love have to grow always. Thanks for the lines, as it may mold someone to understand the vision of love instead of wrong thoughts. Hub of poem is
Down below the roots seek their mission
A foundation true and strong
Love is a tree changing each season
A portrait of phases and their reason
