Eternal Life
I long with all my fervent heartEach beat and bated breath
An eternal spiral that coils
Deep, deep inside of me.
I fling open my arms to embrace
To catch the wind on my skin
Each pin prick of cold air
Goosing down my flesh
I am open to give and receive
Each new spring of budding life
I wake, willingly from hibernation
Unfurl my branches and
Lift up my face to the sky
A speck, a mote in the atmosphere
Whirling as the breeze takes her
For each new trip to places far
Near, to the stars and back
I am essence in life's long wait
A living entity of longing
And if I reach to the highest
I'll take flight, a laughing
Kite trailing bright ribbons.
