Overcast
Its overcast today, I feel itin each breath of sultry air,
my eyes feel heavy with the
effort of seeing sawn off views.
Trees create a heavy shroud
blanking vista’s that otherwise
would sparkle, fresh and clean.
Clouds do bear weight, their
moist breath imbuing melancholy
and I think of worlds ending,
not in a fanfare but just slowly,
inexorably being extinguished.
I long for the incomparable beauty
of brighter days lit by hope.
I know this is just one of life’s blips
but its eternity is just so overwhelming.
Please push back the barriers,
smooth the knots from my neck,
let me see up further than the
tallest tree and watch optimism
fly, a swoop and sweep of glee.
Let the ground beneath me
bubble up in mirth, so that each
step I take is unfettered and free.
It is overcast but cannot last
tomorrow I shall breathe.
