Absorption
You catch me when my breath is caughtas I swallow words that you already know
and I feel the fragrance of our love that
has been absorbed deep, deep inside my soul.
In sleep, I wake restless to just tense
then ease into your arms that hold me
banishing away long hours I spent alone,
sifting through the sands of memories.
I did not love you then my love for
I had not as yet seen the colour of your soul
or heard the texture of your voice as I
hollowed into your embrace at night.
Love is cautious as it gambles, playful
to dance around my silent, still feet
that start to tap a rhythm because now
our steps are an intertwined melody.
The air around us is a magnetic field
which pulses, pulling us ever closer
I feel each nub and twist of spine
as waves shoot darts of love inside.
I am silent now in the rushing stream
so that when I call your name I know
that you are beside me pulling me
down, down to the drowning depths
I long for midnight in the noon of love.
