The Earth was silent

The Earth was silent.
Nothing special happened, and
She was so calm and still –
No winds, no storms,
No snowfalls, agitations.
The Earth was silent.
She was thinking of her own,
Mysterious and private.
But in this secret mood
She was so kind and patient.
She wanted dreams, more dreams,
And to fly somewhere
Where she would not be alone.
Venus was sleeping for so long.
The Moon was going round,
So cold, non-living.
Mars was going to awake.
But the Earth knew,
When Mars awoke,
Then she would be asleep,
And be so cold and dead.
And the Sun? He didn’t want to listen
And was quite alien,
Like from another world.
But he always made an impact
That she wanted to stand against,
But couldn’t always resist.
She needed him to live.
She loved him as he was.
The Earth still hoped
The Sun would burn for long.
At least she wouldn’t be afraid
To sleep alone in her dark bed.
She tried to avoid the saddest thoughts
About her loneliness. She thought
She was still happy –
Happy to live and care
About creatures of her own.
She was so pleased
To give them calm and peace.
The Earth was silent
In her holly dreams.
