The Grieving Heart
The grieving heart is hungryIt seeks sustenence for life itself
All has been taken from it
Hope has been put on a shelf
With each hollow beat it echos
the loss of love's life giving source
And all around who hear it
Look for fate's guilt-filled remorse
But that hollow heart throbs bleakly
With no words of sorrow to eat
That would bring an understanding
To feed the hungry beat
The pains of emptiness
call out for some way to cope
As waves of hunger continue
to seek any morsels of hope
A grief-filled heart needs nourishment
Of hope and love to be
And If turned to God's light of promise
The hungry heart will beat purposefully
