Something I learned in Sunday School as a child, written in a child-like way to show hopefully a child-like faith, which I believe we all need to maintain.
The scripture quote in the first two paragraphs are from 1Corinthians 11:23-26

Sunday School Lesson

Because of me,

"...The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in rememberance of me."

Be cause of me,

"In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying "this cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenevery you drink it, in rememberance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

Because of me,

Because I can not obey
the Ten Commandments every day
The Father sent, his only Son
to pay for all, the sins I've done

Because of me,

Because my sin
condems my soul again and again
The Father's heart, full of grace
sent The Son to take my place

Because of me,

Jesus came to earth
to offer me and you, a second birth
He died a brutal death, upon the cross
His Father turned away from the loss

Because of me,

He arose from the dead
scarred on his hands, feet and head
Those scars mean that when I die
I too will rise and death deny

Because of you,

If I did not exist
if yours was the only name on life's list
God's love, for you would still
make this all happen, it is His will

Because of you,

God's grace, and mercy abound
no greater love can be found
Jesus died so you could live
forgiveness of sin is his to give

Because of you,

God has sent, an invitation
He wants to make, you a relation
become his child and live forever
with God in Heaven where saints all gather

This is profound Truth. I so enjoyed taking of the Lord's Supper yesterday at church. It was very moving to see so many line up and be given the sacred elements (the blood and body of Christ)
How blessed we are to have a Savoir who loves us so much that He became like us in order to show us the Way.

Elle The PoetBay support member heart!
I prefer the gnostic versions - but clever as to how a child perceives religion - I was a catholic, still am, just not as gullible about it all - but I still recall my childish thoughts of faith - Well done, good poem
