Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemes; thou annointest my headwith oil; my cup runneth over [6] Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. Psalm 23: 5-6

The Empty Seat

The empty seat stands silent
In honor of the soldier at war
Or in memory of a loved one who
Has gone on to heaven before

The plate set out in promise
Of the arrival of an old friend
The faithful pray in unity
For the reunion to begin

Each one has their own place
Special in its purposeful phase
From the innocence of the babe
To the wisdom of the sage

So past, present, or future
Time and being never stands still
Through famine and through bounty
Hope lives in His perfect will.

A beautiful write Kathy and only right to honour our loved ones passed on or away from your homely loving table....the introduction is from the final supper I assume?! Only jesus could come up with lines like those! smiling at your welcome table, believing in the tradition of the past to take us safely into the future....I honour my dead tomorrow with a big feast, song and music to bring the house down! smiling at you, between the tears....Tai x

This is so touching. I connected with it immediately. I flows from first word to last in a journey of wise words that go directly to the heart. Another great poem.
