A friend of mine has a tatto that depicts a woman kneeling, clinging to a heart....not sure the story behind the art....but this came in my head

She Clings to Her Heart

She's so afraid of commitment.
She says "Love won't last."
I guess she knows no different.
She's been so burned in the past.
So she stays isolated.
Won't let love even start.
Been so long since she's dated.
She sits and hugs her own heart.

She's been in love before and it's torn her apart.
Never worked out right, now she's afraid to start.
So now she lives alone, but I don't think that's too smart.
She kneels down on the floor and just clings to her heart.

She was dumped by her first lover.
He left without goodbye.
Her second would hit and shove her.
He was such a troubled guy.
Then she thought she found true love.
It was magic from the start.
He disappeared with a new love.
Left her with a shattered heart.

She's been in love before and it's torn her apart.
Never worked out right, now she's afraid to start.
So now she lives alone, but I don't think that's too smart.
She kneels down on the floor and just clings to her heart.

She is remarkably pretty.
Her soul is kind and pure.
And it sure is a pity.
She thinks love can't endure.
I wish I could convince her
Of the love in my heart.
She just turns a cold shoulder
Won't let love even start.

She's been in love before and it's torn her apart.
Never worked out right, now she's afraid to start.
So now she lives alone, but I don't think that's too smart.
She kneels down on the floor and just clings to her heart.

JB you have such a marvelous talent writing lyrical poetry. This one touched my heart as it told such a very real story that happens many times in the lives of very loving people. Sometimes love can hurt more than anything while other times it heals more than anything. I hope your friend looks at your heart and this lovely poem and finds the healing love she so deserves and that you are so willing to give. : ) kathy **bookmarked**

I love these song poems. This is just great. Put it to music and you have a hit! I would love to hear Vince Gill sing this.
