Monsoons in India are just heavenly, bathing everything clean. Green is the predominant colour as the trees are in full bloom...

Cloud, O Cloud!

Cloud, O cloud!
The rain-rich cloud,
Thou hast a place
In the psyche' of crowds,
The harbinger of rain,
The giver of life to crops,
To all creatures big and small
Of my land, where farmers reign...

When you rise above the hot earth,
Where low pressure makes breathing scant,
When heat oppresses every member of clan,
You obscure the hot and pelting sun,
Bringing the much needed respite...

First showers of Monsoon, then you sprinkle
The parched earth welcomes your maiden drops
Such fragrant aroma it then gives off
Thanking you, offers this inscense
Of heavenly smell, tickling every sense,
Moods are elated and everyone
Just breathes in this delightful fragrance...

Riding on the South–West Winds
You bring the cooling air with you,
The North-east Westerlies merrily blow.
Red roses open their dainty petals,
Jasmine spreads its sensual scent,
Trees're suffused with fluorescent green
Mint fresh grass sprouts overnight,
Birds bathe in your heavenly showers,
Chirrup merrily from dawn to dusk,
The Koel black with its melody,
Stirs in my heart such memories...

The peacock pays its artistic tribute,
With his rhythmic dance to your tune-
Shivers and quivers with such joy,
Spreads its colourful tail in a stance
That puts all the peahens in a trance,
And they, like me, stop in their trail, and
Watch, mesmerized, not shifting a glance...

The Magpie, the Cuckoo, the Maina brown,
All celebrate and sing their song
Composing a symphony in unison-
Dawn and Dusk become amphitheaters in passing
In which, I sit and enjoy every instant,
Sun-rise and Sun-set become alluring spectacles
That Nature free of cost performs...

So come, O cloud, come every Monsoon
And make my land enchantment-filled
Cool my soil after summer's hot drill,
Bring cheer to my lonesome soul,
Warm my heart before winter's chill...

Brilliant picture of a monsoon and its aftermath. I loved it, especially the appreciation of the birds and trees. Wonderful poetry as usual.

As Ususal a Tapestry of mindfilling vistas barely hidden in words.
Not a mean tribute to the artistry of the peacock.. Nor an understatemnet as to the importance of the latter rain.. Full pott as far as accolades go Friend..
