seasonal scenes
As the Wind Blows
The beauty of the falling leaves
Colors the winds of November
Blowing across the willows' reeds
Sending seeds for April to remember
Chilly air of coming snows
The sparkle of a white December
Frozen streams in frosted meadows
A mirror for the golden rod, amber
Icy days of January nights
Sliding through a weary winter
Cold arms of sleeted trees
Bending in laden solid shivers
February comes a fleeting thaw
Bringing sheets of ice broken
An opening of the trembling streams
A temporary warming token
Frigid winter will not give in
Blustering and flustering all about
Snow swirling fattened flakes
Create a blanketed silent whiteout
March is a blizzard of chilly winds
Carrying sleet upon its powerful wings
Again the air is crisp and cold
But then a crocus rises to sing
Of hope and new life neath the earth
Waiting for Spring to open her eyes
Allowing the buds to sprout their glory
Among the warmth of sun-filled skies.
