Staying with the Christmas theme, this poem is about the busy time just before Christmas!
Christmas comes but once a year
And yes it's nearly blooming here
Another week to madly fly
Down to Tescos just to buy
Lots of things we'll never eat
And the oft' forbidden treat
Wanting everything perfected
If someone calls that's not expected
Wonder then what can I wear
On Christmas day, and oh my hair!
That needs some attention though.
So I'm always on the go.
And for what-- just two days
I wander round in quite a daze
Drink and eat until we bust
Enjoy ourselves, yes we must!
Yet I just have to hear the songs
Of Christmas, I forget the wrongs
And I feel a glow inside
Feel a joy I cannot hide
This is real it's not a game
Every year it is the same
See excited children's faces
Relax and stop those stupid races
Wallow in the peace and joy
That radiates in girl and boy
I think about what Christmas means
Enjoying all the Christmas scenes
Smell the Christmas dinner cooking
There's happiness where e'er I'm looking
Christmas crackers there to snap
Little babe on Granny's lap
Granddad he's just nodding off
Try to wake him with a cough
Games to play we have such fun
With simple prizes to be won
And when it's over yet again
A brief respite before the pain
When we have to start once more
As New Years Eve comes to the fore.
Then Hooray! back to the norm
Trying to get back on form
Then Oh NO!! My daughter wails
We MUST go to the January Sales!!
