Phew!!
'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the store
At Tesco's stressed shoppers were looking for more
Mince pies and Christmas cakes, biscuits and..... Phew!
Turkeys and legs of pork, joints of ham too
Paxo and stuffing, cranberry sauce
Piccalilli and beetroot, other pickles of course
Apples and oranges, nuts in their shells
Salted and special ones and chocolate bells
Novelties in chocolate for the Christmas tree
Shelf upon shelf full, for them and me
Cd's and Dvd's for Christmas song
Christmas is coming it won't be long!
Sellotape,ribbons, paper and tags
To wrap up those presents stuffed in their bags
Biscuits in tins with pictures so merry
Mistletoe, holly, full of red berry
Crisps and cheese wotsits
Twiglets and nibbles
Plenty of those, you don't want any quibbles!
Beers by the dozens and wines in a box
(And in case you've forgotten granddad wants socks.)
At last arrive home, collapse in a heap
Then store all those goodies hopefully to keep
Until Christmas Eve and the days that follow
To feed all the family with legs that seem hollow!!
The suddenly it's here, as quickly it's passed
And all of those goodies that were amassed
Have been eaten with great enjoyment and then
It's back to the normal shopping again.
