What bothers the snow
A soft thump
underneath
their shoes
The white ground
is squealing
in pain
The muffled whispers
of thousands of flakes
Complaining
about a troublesome
standard of living
A flat murmur
speaking of
the heavy weight
of the newly-fallen
reinforcement
A rising grumble
about the fact
that they are
no longer
the first in line
to melt
