scarlett and thorns

scarlett and thorns
blood and pain
white diamonds cut
pentrating the vein

scent of the lily
taste of the wine
grapes in the arbor
death of the vine

sweetpea and trumpets
willows and oak
quiet are the songbirds
silently choked

dreams and passions
heartbeats and sighs
love unrequited
the lonely dove cries

Such is the stuff of life. It costs to love, but to never love cost even more. You have portrayed the pain and pleasure of love in the bitter-sweet way of a great country song. Its words may hurt but they are delivered with the sweetness of strings and vocals that go straight to the heart.

how parallel is obscure delight here with pain, hankerings and sacrifice. A well balanced & worth pondering text lady!
