ex girlfriends are an amusing thing
Just the particular path they choose to walk down at that given moment
Sometimes we stumble upon that road
Each step taken off balance and half-cocked
Wavering between right left to left left right right
But still moving, slowly, down a road too familiar to not be traveled upon
even if we already know what the ultimate outcome is going to be
We still hurtle, faster than the speed of reason
Because sometime the worst decisions are the easiest ones to make
And there's comfort in that
Even when the siren song of safer and more pleasant passage beckons to you from ages past
Shoes well worn just seem to fit better
And comfortable footwear always makes the voyage easier
more accessible
more palatable to the senses
especially when you refuse to come to your own
and so you continue to walk across broken glass to an iodine expressway
despite brighter highways being opened before you
but I can't blame you
I'll just sit here illuminating the open sign to a toll booth leading to brighter horizons
Waiting for you to rub the sleep out of your eyes and smile that big, bright, beautiful smile at the sun
And decide it's high time for a ticket transfer

travel
The decisions a person makes do not necessarily define that personJust the particular path they choose to walk down at that given moment
Sometimes we stumble upon that road
Each step taken off balance and half-cocked
Wavering between right left to left left right right
But still moving, slowly, down a road too familiar to not be traveled upon
even if we already know what the ultimate outcome is going to be
