By R.L. Sharpe written early in the 20th Century.
Thank you John Lambremont, Sr. for finding and sharing this poem! Night Soul Woman
A shell, a husk, a seed, an egg: all these
Encapsulate the substance of this world.
A falling shell has promise of tall trees,
A seed of broom a twisted husk has hurled
Transforms a meadow into summer fire.
An egg has promise of a falcon’s wings
That to the seat of heaven would aspire,
As sperm into a womb sweet magic brings.
For all of mankind that is yet to be
And all accomplishment of song and art
Lurks in a sphere no larger than a pea,
A miracle that myriad faiths impart,
While thoughts that germinate in our mind
Fashion a life of a different kind.
