An attempt to describe my 18 month old granddaughter Maddie.
Stroke lightly the hair
Ease the tiny fingers
from around yours with care
Softly lay her down
on sheets that smell of spring
Slowly pull the passy
from her lips as you sing
curls of strawberry blonde
frame her angelic face
long silk lashes
on rosy cheeks encase
azure blue eyes
that have the power to own
every heart that meets her
even those of stone
Look upon this treasure
who made life seem brand new
just 18 months ago
with the first breath she drew
The innocence, the purity
the sweetness of her face
In her rests the beauty
of God's mercy and grace
