Wondering and questioning

The Nihilistic Monkey

Although I still don't know my name yet
I won't throw my life down the drain
No longer will I go on taking requests
I refuse to waste life on empty conquests
No longer will I venture into the hornet's nest
Only to realise that the golden prize was a lie
Just like the cake I never got
Or the love I always sought
It was all a symphony of lies
Nothing more than a facade, a sham
All this and I still don't know who I am
I don't even know my name yet
I have nothing left to lose or gain
No longer will I suffer the strain
Of entertaining these delusions
I have discovered the cracks in the pane of glass and come to a conclusion
On the clock moves the hand which is moved by a piece of quartz
Ticking away my life and its forces
My life, the greatest, the most elaborate of farces

Giving birth to oneself can be deeply painful...

Hello Jack, we all have a nihilistic monkey in us and you bring him out beautifully in this full of doubt poem, just be you and your name will come naturally. We all live a farce to a certain degree, just keep the faith and life will show you, there is so much more out there to see and do. The love you always sought will be there when you least expect it. Just live and let live and all will be well. With luck.

Smiling at you

Elle The PoetBay support member heart!
A good questioning poem, we only learn by life and questions I suppose - I would hate to say cynical, I prefer less gullible to the fakeness that so often surrounds us in life.
