Listening to some old music this fell on my screen

Old Songs

Sometimes when I'm all alone
Away from TV and the phone.
I sit and listen to old songs.
They bring back good memories.
They bring a little smile to me.
They take me to the time where I belong.

Some call them oldies, I'm not so sure.
The music of my youth will certainly endure.
Lyrics you can relate to, melodies just right.
Take me back to my youth tonight.

Today's music just ain't the same.
There really is no one to blame.
Generations all have different tastes.
When my kids tune in the radio
I shake my head and say I don't know,
Some of these songs seem such a waste.

Some call them oldies, I'm not so sure.
The music of my youth will certainly endure.
Lyrics you can relate to, melodies just right.
Take me back to my youth tonight.

From soft love ballads to classic rock,
These songs sure turn back the clock.
They take me to a simpler time.
From Jim Croce to BTO
To me, that's the way to go.
I sit and listen with a glass of wine.

Some call them oldies, I'm not so sure.
The music of my youth will certainly endure.
Lyrics you can relate to, melodies just right.
Take me back to my youth tonight.

Now everybody has their time.
I can only speak for mine.
I just know the songs I love will last.
So if I find myself feeling low
I just turn on the stereo,
And take mental trip back to my past.

Some call them oldies, I'm not so sure.
The music of my youth will certainly endure.
Lyrics you can relate to, melodies just right.
Take me back to my youth tonight.

Loved it Bob, just loved it. Every word so true. (I'm off to listen to Lenard Cohen and the Carpenters...Beatles too.) Loved this poem of musical truth.
