I love science fiction from Dan Dare to Soylent Green; this is a tongue in cheek tribute.

Watch this space

Jovial Joe
Brought round his video
Of that epic flick
By Stanley Kubrick,
That classic must-see,
2001: A space odyssey.

We watched in juvenile awe
As the dancing spaceships soar,
We gawped with wide baby eyes
At the psychedelic Jovian sunrise,
And though we didn't get the ending
We agreed it was a night-in worth spending.

We sucked on our pipes
And sipped our Red Stripes,
Debating machine intelligence
And the need for Man's vigilence,
Not least of computers like HAL,
In need to refill, I said Joe be a pal,
There's more beer in the refrigerator,
Off he went but some time much later
Came back looking clammy and white,
I said Joe you don't look very bright,
He said I went to the fridge for some more,
But the darn thing wouldn't open its door!

This is great. I too am a SiFi fan. Arthur C Clarke was a favourite growing up.
