A tale of changing seasons

Tears of Gold

Did you see the tree
cry for you and me
as we said goodbye
neath its hovering branches?

Its tears of gold
glistened in the cold
as the wind
spread them wildly

Upon the ground
they scattered round
covering the dark earth
beneath them

And you and I
saw them die
without a word
of comfort

Our own tears
exposed our fears
that our love
would falter

In our time apart
you lost your heart
to the sky you saw
in the eyes of another

Azure blue
intrigued you
and you fell into them
helpless

The brown of mine
lost the shine
that dazzled your
emotions

Now you are here
and dying leaves jeer
as you shed my love
like blowing branches

The tree and me
stripped and free
of the beauty that
was once upon us

Cry to the wind
is this the end?
Will life no longer
adorn us?

There's nothing to do
but remember you
and the golden tears
mine fell upon
