I based this on a poem by Pamela Lamppa that she has posted on Creative-poems.com. It has the same name. I did notice that she read it there and likes it.

Rest Gently

Rest gently now my darling.

Rest in your grave so secure.

Know now that no one will ever bother you again.

Whether it come snow—sunshine, or rain.

Rest gently now darling rest in your grave so low.

My love, sleep gently.

Know that I love you even with you already gone.

Rest gently knowing that I soon will be with you.

I know that without you I cannot go on.

Already, I am so lonely and blue.

I know not what I will do while you rest gently all alone.
