free lunch( a street scene, pathetic, we seemed to me)

and he said to him,"Teacher, all these i have kept from my youth. And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him," You lack one thing, go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven, and come, follow Me."

read that a few times, and think
and stop, if you will, and have a free drink
of the love that Jesus, weeping, had
for one that hadn't even been bad.

this is so simple, i can't stand it
was somebody there without sin? dint quite fit?
what, pray tell, would keep you out of Hell?
when rings the tolling bell
would it be to sell?
for a poor one who's luck slipped, then fell?
to give, that another may more truly live?
for us to follow Jesus... to Heaven?
technically, yep.
but the point might be:

having kept all the commandments, was that man good enough?
having asked Jesus that, Jesus loved him, for that reason...alone.

was his life full of sorrow, was he manly, was he tough?
was his life misery, had he been used? abused?
did he pay?

no, he collected...
was he lucky, well off? the Word says so
the man was rich, rolling in the proverbial dough
and still he wondered, and asked
what by God he'd been truly tasked
to gain eternal life from God above
from a Father, NOW full of love?
for one for whom, he'd not yet suffered to die?
no sins there to decry?

there was one...

and the man seems to have went to Hell, alone
not to have followed our Lord, his sin to atone
to a cross, to a place on a wind swept hill
where all who go to Heaven eventually will

to carry a cross, all splintered and rough, to hang, to die
to the self, to the comforts of the world, there to hurt, and to cry
maybe giving of what you think you need
wouldn't make your little heart bleed

but i doubt it.

do they deserve, this way i my Lord serve
dirty, ugly, and don't appreciate, they drink and stagger and swerve
they scorn, they bully, they stink up the place
they're a nuisance, a shame, a waste, a disgrace

and yet, they often say "thank you..."

to whom, may i parry
while Jesus lovingly tarries

for what, i wonder, i ask you
for who, and why,
whatever should we do?

as good as you are, i call you a sinner, lacking one thing.

a heart of flesh
where our Lord would mesh
instead of just blessing here
a heart that hasn't fear(WHAT'S THAT MEAN?)

a rich man doesn't fear God, he's well to do
but when Gods through
blessing you
where ya goin'?

what's gonna be there?

and more importantly...WHO?

Jesus.

Lazarus died, actually died, and Christ brought him back from the grave, to planet Earth, had he been saved?
his cross, after that, was people conspiring to murder him, the bible says, then, he must've died again...wonder what happened to him?
in Heaven, i s'pose, after all, Jesus loved him. He even wept for him.

another Lazarus lived in misery, abandoned and alone
there his sins to atone(?)

and died
in the Bosom of Abraham, for which he'd longed and cried
Jesus died for us, they say
say that three times fast, then consider "for you", and in what way

another good question, i'd say
were i to be asked

the moral of the story seems to be, if you have no cross...

something about a chasm in there, as i recall...
how will you cross?

p.s. i had a free lunch served by a few Christains today
they'll probably be in Heaven, someday
i wonder, though
where the rest of the church will go

when the very best are feeding the poor...
at the wedding supper of the Lamb

some people will get to Heaven by forgiven sin
others may have to buy, or work their way in.

sinner.
