The smoke stings eyes, just as well, th tears wont be seen for what they are

Acrid smoke

Have you noticed that
no matter where you stand
which side of the fire you pose watchingly
smoke gets in your eyes?

I shovelled sheets of lost love
painfully paid bills
sharp namecalling letters
bitter memories
into the flames

showers of sparks blew
up from each volley
drizzles of ash sky high
north wind almost pushing me
into the redhot burning barrel

my eyes teared skin burned
heartwrenching truth is
both here and there
no smoke without a fire
