What is poetry?


Everything is art and an artist can create thoughts that can be defined as prose if the artist does not try to imitate art and not life and then the reader decides if it is poetry or not because poetry exists in the heart of the reader.

I believe there is such a thing as being over inclusive Anna. I know to some all sound is music but this belief, in effect , takes a great deal away from the trained musician. I think potential and achieved potential are not equal. ;-) ...then perhaps I'm only being the devil's advocate (for a change)

Poetry is in the mind eye of the reader , the reader sees , with in what they need . That may no have been in the mind of the poet at the time. To me once the the poet lets his/her poem go . The poem asumes it's own life-force.
