Gnat Fishing
Gnats plaque and play around my head
driving me in circles while I try to shoot them dead.
I bought a can of Raid for flying insects; its true
but those gnats sit around a lot until I spray a flume.
I am washing up the dishes as fast as I am able.
I am wiping down the counter-tops and the dining table.
All the while, I am holding that can of poisonous death,
killing nothing, while I intoxicate my own breath.
Gnats must be very sexual and fast at reproduction.
I might conquer a few while there is a massive production
of troops in training wearing gas masks and goggles
preparing for their attack on me; the mind, it boggles.
I think I will just let them join me in my little nook
while I search the Internet looking for gnat hooks!
