just thinking with my fingers

What's The Point?

Writing late just to write
with nothing great to say,
I sit at the computer
and type the night away.
But what is the purpose
of putting words on a screen?
Will they make any difference
to the reader when they're seen?
I think I'm merely exercising
my fingers as I type
for nothing I see printing
is worthy of any hype.
Its just filling space
on a blank white screen
while using very little
thought from this old bean
I guess you could say
my creative well is dry
but my mind doesn't know it
and still wants to try.
Like an old dog
who wants to play fetch
retrieving a tossed tennis ball
is a doggone stretch.
And like an empty gas tank
on a brand new car
with nothing to make it run
it won't get very far
But look what I've done
just fiddling around
I've filled up this page
all the way down!

Yes you have; all the way to the bottom.

I know the descriptions of which you speak, I'm going through one of the phases right now. I have found a lot of quiet faith however. In other words; I know that I am meant to write - I think many of us are, some without knowing it - and trust that the words will come back to me, and indeed us, when they are meant to.

It can be very frightening when one has a passion to write and they discover there is no fuel in the tank; I empathise greatly with that aspect of creativity.

Thanks for sharing this. : )
