My first poem for months, and here since I deleted my entire archive online


I Scribble

I do not converse with hidden symbols nor with ghosts of the past

and if you think this poem is for you

you might be wrong

 

I write for my sanity

I write to structure my thoughts and feelings

I write to analyze and understand

I write to discover hidden words within myself

I write because I must

 

These words are for me

and no other

This poem, although - as it tells us - not written for anyone in particular, could be used to advise any hopeful scribe wanting to understand their purpose with the pen. It certainly reminded me of the failings I fall for when looking outside of myself for inspiration.

Good to read you here again my friend! Yes, you are so right, this is our write. I cannot personally construct poetry, it just comes, relieving my weary heart and mind.

I do it because I must, and not for any other reason. I would love to be able say I am a political poet, or some sort of freedom fighter, change the world, type of poet, but, I am just me, writing to free me.

Thank you for clarifying this very important aspect of why we are poetic.
