Often our greatest battle in life is with ourselves
flare and wane with events
They often take over
and smother common sense
They must be expressed
passivity is for the brain
But if they're never made to rest
they could drive one insane
I've discovered,
there is never enough hate
to take away the pain
there is never enough anger
to stop the pouring rain
there is never enough fear
to vanquish demon taunts
there is never enough longing
to satisfy all our wants
We need a regulator
placed upon our heart
to help us keep our heads
when emotional reactions start
We need to let off steam
but not enough to burn
our own vulnerable souls
trembling at every turn
Emotion and reason battle
to gain the upper hand
and while one gives us the power
the other gives us the plan
Power without reason
can cause a disasterous fate
uncontrolled it destroys
what it was meant to create
Use your emotions
to spur on your mind
to think of things to do
when you need to unwind
and use your mind
to discover all the ways
your emotions can be fed
on cerebral overload days
Get yourself in sync
and balance heart and mind
and you will know more peace
and less regret in kind
