Poetic license

allows us to fill our mouth

with words too big for

our experience 

Easiest thing

in the universe

 
paint a canvas

with stolen colors 

Never use 'pain'

unless it has numbed

you beyond it self

to recognition

that pain is  no end

but a doorway

Never use 'joy'

unless joy has

flooded all you are

and made you

a joy to someone else

Never use any word

unless you have ben harrowed,

sliced and disected

by its content

and reassembled by its

resurrection

in your flesh and blood

You ask me then

in a 'sotto voce'

Will there not be

a terrible silence?

Never use 'silence'

until you have

heard a heart

stop beating
