Letting Go

I've got to let you slip away
close my eyes, dry my tears
I've got to find something to say
to compensate for those silent years

A word is drifting through my mind
singing sadly, singing low
That word is turning dark, unkind
inviting an icy wind to blow

I've got to let you slip away
close my eyes, close my heart
I've got to hope we'll be friends one day
'til then, my only love, we part.

I've got to let you go.
