Distantly
and so you will never meet me,except in the distance
and I will not be distantly yours
or anyones.
there shall be no
brief encounter
of even the briefest,
your brief case
on a seat next to mine
shall not hungrily
snap at my heals.
there shall be no waves,
no hugs farewell
or even a peck
on a bird table
filled with scraps
from a meagre table
and so we shall be
distantly unacquainted
and with the frequency
of non meetings
I shall distantly nod
at the shoe shine man
who shivers in the
winter cold.
