Distantly

and so you will never meet me,
except in the distance
and I will not be distantly yours
or anyones.

there shall be no
brief encounter
of even the briefest,
your brief case
on a seat next to mine
shall not hungrily
snap at my heals.

there shall be no waves,
no hugs farewell
or even a peck
on a bird table
filled with scraps
from a meagre table

and so we shall be
distantly unacquainted
and with the frequency
of non meetings
I shall distantly nod
at the shoe shine man
who shivers in the
winter cold.

A pleasure to read, Elle. An interesting subject, with an equally interesting mood. Thanks for writing, and thanks for sharing.

Regards,
John.

Interesting subject and nicely put, we are just one in a crowd, liking that second stanza.
