a small thought came to my mind while travelling which I quickly penned down!

Ironic-Discomfort

When some bigger grief reaches you
they say it- look at the one
who is more distressed and more depressed.
And you will know you are better than a lot others,
you have lot more than what others have not .
To this I wonder how selfish human instincts could be
to find comfort in others's pain.
How ironic it is that someone's greater suffering lighten the burden of our souls!!
What an ironic discomfort created this thought to my soul!!

existence
thats Gandhi's Talisman !
in our minds, may be, it starts with that comfort you are talking about but i think it has more meaning to it than sheer sadism.
by empathizing with other, it inspires one to struggle in tough times and may be, one gets a better perspective and visibility in his/her own life

Hi Sana,

The best of human nature reveals its sympathetic side. The primal side of our nature is all about self-preservation. It *is* an ironic-discomfort, the yin and yang of who we are.

Thank you this insight, and for putting it into poetry.
