NAVIGATING PROMISE

Looking back anticlockwise at time
A quick reminisce of my 5th grade promise
When I fussed the world to believe
In my youthful blistering dreams

To navigate around the world I promised
A stake I chose to overcome
As my sire plea this dream
To the ears of the deities

An aviator a million predicted
A bluejacket a thousand foresaw
Yet I stumbled on the trails of their wish
Staying safe in the arms of the gods

Awaked on the opposite side of life
Where my sacrifice was puffed
Daring the aching rays of the sun
And flexing in the frozen ice of winter

Years sailed across views
My promise in doubt to the world
As the prediction of being an aviator crashed
So did that of a bluejacket sank in the seas

Mortals from Diasporas of life
Emerged on this bay of poets
Where we harmoniously shared the mental gift
As this was the navigating dream I promised

A poignant look back, and an assessment of reality. It's good that we cannot know the future, or we would never dream.

Beautifully, gently written.
