Christmas Wish

The Christmas lights on this snowy night
Emit a pleasant glow.
Church bells ring as the carolers sing,
It's such a lovely show.
There's no trace of a frown on my face,
Even though my heart is blue.
I have one wish this Christmas,
That's to be with you.

Reindeer treats and Santa's eats
All set out on the tray.
All is right, he'll arrive tonight
Tomorrow's Christmas day.
Stockings are hung, popcorn is strung
The fireplace is aglow.
Stories read, the kids in bed.
Oh how I miss you so.

There's family here to bring me cheer.
They'll get me through the day.
Though we're apart, you're in my heart.
There you'll always stay.
One day, my love, with grace from above,
My wish will come true.
I can't pretend, I want to spend
All my Christmases with you.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give at Christmas, is that of sharing ourselves with people who love us. It's not easy to please everyone at once, in fact...it's next to impossible. Although your heart is blue for that one TRUE love...take comfort in the fact that you have warmed the hearts of those who have hung the stockings. :-)
Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Dee

The structure you have used, especially the internal rhymes, make this not only a poem but a song. Christmas does tend to bring out the music in us, sometimes nostalgic, sometimes even sad but always from the heart.
