The art of catching trains of thought
I train my thought
I spent hours
considering
along what tracks
your thoughts might run
and if I could link my train
to your rail system
but then I faced the fact,
trains run along linear lines
and have their destinies
mapped out in steel
and along gravelly banks
Not so your mind
it flows more
like a contradictory river
climbing back on its banks
flooding its own upstream
drowning its source
How do I know
well
I don't
and it's this ignorance of mine
which lures me into you
again and again
into your mouth
to feed upon the words
and to map what of your mind
is hiding behind them
I will scrap my steel train
and bring about a ferriswheel
high enough to let my thoughts
see your world from above
and hope for a safe descent
and cradle you in the same
gondola next time around
damn all the trains
climb into my ferris wheel
lets whirlygig
the rest
and see ourselves altogether
from above
