When a mother departs...

An Abandoned Girl's Song

Can the sweet lily spew its fragrance?
Can the loving tree withdraw its abundance?

Can the selfless nightingale swallow her song?
Can the punctual clock take a bit too long?

Can the just night queen rule over day?
Can the pretty mayflower bloom in any month other than May?

Can the devoted sunflower turn towards the moon?
Can the mighty sun set at noon?

Can the friendly darkness ever leave the night?
Can the seven hues vanish from white light?

Can the brave diamond turn into a pearl?
Can the mother abandon her little girl?

Neelima
Never! A mother cannot abandon her little girl.
Just love the melody and the beat in it.
Beautiful message. It is sad to see that the girl child is disregarded in our part of the world. With a ratio of 700 females to every 1000 males in Haryana, they is a dearth for women.
Your poem should become the anthem of India.
