What a thought-provoking piece!
I've always been taken by Pan, ever since I first encountered him in The Wind in the Willows, protecting Baby Otter. Bless.
I like the logic of proof vs. hearsay. I may grasp it better in light of day, but having followed the link I may understand it in the context of Pan's reported death.
And the skilfully italicised text is very moving.
