A summer romance I saw from a distance. Now that it is over i miss seeing these two. They were charming.

They Stand Close

They stand close
In dark places.
You come upon them
Unexpectedly,
Around corners
Between cars.

In the full light of day
You would say
They were
Brother and sister,
His hair as long
And black as hers,
Her body as lean
And narrow as his.

But brother and sister
Never have as much to say
Or stand as close
As these two.

Than one day it is over.
She waits for a long time
Alone in a shadow.
He only comes
As she is leaving.

Excuses are made
Arms wave
Shoulders shrug
In a pantomime
Of fake indifference

Now when you turn a corner
Or go out to your car
They are gone.
And the world seems
Less magical,
Less full of hope,
Less!!

Most would have paid them no attention, seen nothing special in their furtive encounters, nor shared a sense of loss as they parted. Your sensibility is a reminder that so much goes on around us that we often fail to notice.

Just great observations and I feel the sadness too, loved it.
