Winter Approach

Sitting still with windows and doors open
I feel winter approaching within
The air wafting of late in the evening-
Throw back my head to extend my
Throat so I may stroke it for comfort
As the contemplation of cold begins
To clock in.

So much time will be given to the arranged
Layers and I will be as an onion skinned and
Worse... it is having to shut out the air that flows
So needed in my nature that hurts me...that and having
To wear full shoes and match up those bloody socks!
It is certain I was made for flip flops!
Let me clock out!

My older daughter lives in one of our coldest states with brutal winters and wears flip-flops all winter long. Not so much hardy, I think, as fool-hardy.
