Little Bird
A long time agoEverything was
So simple
Things were black
Or things were white
Then came the vultures
The hawks preying on
The small young bird
Picking holes at her
So the bird chose
A hawk for a mate
And the hawk
Pecked her to bits
Until one day
Another fought
For her
And the pecking hawk
Flew away sqwarking
Obscenities at them
The little young bird
Sat in the nest she had made
Shivering and shaking
The new younger hawk
Tended to her beaten body
She was contented for now
His body and mind
Didn't seem to want to hurt her
And he weren't to big and harsh
But one day while out
Searching for food
She came back to find
The young hawk had
Flown away with a female
Young hawk
So the bird flew away
Far and far away
Till she found
Another young bird
But she was fickle and unsure
So pushed her away
So the bird flew on
Further and further
The same thing happen
Once more
By this time
The bird was
Battered and poor
Falawn and tired
Along came a handsome hawk
The bird dove away
Not again she thought
But the handsome hawk
Showed her she can be happy
And free, he built her up
And she grew up in their nest
Nutured and spread out.
But when they went to mate
The fruit on the loins
Were stale
The bird realised
She wasn't a hawk
She was a bird
And she needed to
Be with her own kind
Her family far behind her now
She couldn't go back
Lonely and heartbroken
She longed for the company
Of her own kind
But still stained from
The blood of before
Very afraid to try again
In her mind what will happen
To the handsome hawk
Her love
Tired and weary
Lonlely and heartbroken
She dies a little.
