For Janet and Richard (R.I.P) Your memories arejust like ice.
My wide eyes rested,
I thought of you.....
Then I thought of ice.
You were like ice- solid ,strong, smooth.
There were those cold moments,
When between us a glacier stood.
And sharp precipices in our hearts solidified:
Pricking our souls ,our friendship, our peace.
But like a tumultous avalanche your defence tumbled,
Sending me glorious shower of your snow.
A beam of light reflected off your glassy surface
And shone a rainbow to my heart cold.
Like a safety beacon you shone;
Beautifully blinding.
Then I thought of how ice cures sprains-
Something cold on something warm-a healing
I felt your ice on my pain.
Then there were those hot summer days,
When my heart stood withered and desolate,
And the pitter patter of the rain
Was a ballad long forgotten.
You melted above me....
Like beautiful rain you drenched my parched soul-
Drenched every part of me with loving drops,
And cooled the very depths of my razing soul...
Now you lay in that white casket- cold,
Like the Ice queen of the Arctica:
Beautifully still like sculptured ice.
Andjust like icepreserves,
I hope ,I wish ,I pray......
That your beauty,your memory,your life:
All these shall be preserved
To tell thosewho knew you not,
That your life was just like ice-cream
Whose sweetness last in the mouth for a short while-
And then it is gone.
You were my ice-cream.

Just like Ice
When upon your still bodyMy wide eyes rested,
I thought of you.....
Then I thought of ice.
You were like ice- solid ,strong, smooth.

When between us a glacier stood.

Pricking our souls ,our friendship, our peace.
