For my father, who wants us to wait for him to get his life back together, if it ever does. I'm tired of waiting.
I Don't Want To Wait
We're still growing
And you’re still leaving.
Yet you still tell us,
That we're growing up too fast
And you just can’t seem to keep up.
Why is that, do you think?
It couldn’t be that you left us could it?
Or maybe it was when you married someone
And let her walk all over us?
Or is it the fact that you haven’t called
In a whole year?
You still wonder why
Every time you see us – once in a blue moon,
Why we’re so different?
You distance yourself away from us,
And we leave you behind,
Because we’re tired of waiting for you
To keep up with us
I don’t want to waste my whole life,
Watching you burn yours to the ground.
