there used to be a time

there used to be a time
in these southern suburbs
you could get a simple cheese roll
and a cup of ordinary coffee
for breakfast

there used to be a time
in these southern suburbs
you could get a solid traditional meal
and a glass of beer
for lunch

there used to be a time
in these southern suburbs
a normal working-class stiff
could afford to live
a reasonable life

now it's
beaufort
capriole banon
l'aveyronnais
on walnut bread
drowned in guacamole

now it's
latte
cappuccino
espresso
in glasses
instead of mugs

now it's
sushi
steak a la cafe de paris
galangal
served by snotty waiters

now the rents are through the roof
the working-class has been driven out

our government
sucking off the yuppies

Blilith
J.K.

You rant against the system like me, this is, really from the heart, I think stuff like this great, keep on. I live in the UK, we really are controlled, but I will not be, ever.

Take care my poet friend
