Just a walk in the park
I take a therapeutic walkjust on the edge of traffic
beginning to build, in early morning
a nod will do, a smile well received
by a stranger.
My pace quickens to insulate me
from the vapour that is my breath and
random thoughts find their niche,
unhurried
and wait.
Hoarfrost like needles and splinters
give texture to the lifeless grass,
my path a satin ribbon
running parallel with
the brook.
Ancient trees share the same sky
as a crane, counterbalanced,
poised to build houses of hope
sheltering vulnerable
souls of today.
The rhythm of my step steady's
my mind, clearing space from
chaos, allowing me time to
freefall from worries and see,
that for now,
life's a walk in the park.
