Sky Fall
We saw the moon at the end of the trail, you and me and stars just leading our way,
we swayed beneath a midnight breeze,
you were there and then it all
just disappeared, the road began to fall,
as rivulets of pain and tears
eroded on a track of shale, I looked down
and saw my numb and bleeding feet,
love was good and then it wasn't,
I tried so hard to kiss the moon,
but he was elusive and sank without a trace,
like fingers laced and so entwined,
a flint was used to shear and cut,
only fragments lie in place,
of this, and thus, all in between
of secret places, hidden flowers,
as fatal words became epiphany
the day the sky fell in and out
as laughing moon beguiled
on trails of small and glinting pebbles,
when we were one and all was done;
Oh kiss me softly, tenderly
I want the outline of your lips
in the last glass of wine, we shared each sip,
so I taste you in the air and the breath
runs in rivers in the groove of
flesh and blood, its only sinew.
Oh memory, sweet memory,
the moon and I we sink at thoughts of you,
for love is all and more and nothing,
in the tragic hours when the sky fell in.
