The Veil

I hide behind a veil
What you see
is not me
just an image of what
I want to be
to forget my past.
To find peace
at last.

The real me
hides behind the veil
hidden
my soul
is
forbidden
for you to see
One day I will remove the veil
will you still like me?

Lifting the veil is a difficult thing... But those who matter will accept what's under the veil.

I can understand this and these days I have lifted my veil ...
Lovely poem, beautiful to read and consider

Our very selves are formed through social interaction; I wonder if this sense that we live behind a veil is an illusion rooted in that fact? Stimulating poem!
