Sarah
They call her Sarah, she is the unborn smile
on the closed lids of
your stillborn child.
She is the old woman,
with broken teeth,
who smiles
and the sweetness
breaks your heart.
She is your shadow
and your light,
Sarah is an angel
who took flight
Sarah is your nemesis
your heart and soul.
They call her Sarah,
yet she has no name;
you call your demons names
it im-personalises them,
Sarah is wisdom and lore
Sarah smiles,
but she was never
your redemption.
